Medical Assistant Certification Lookup

Currently, only the state of Washington (License Search) requires medical assistants to be licensed. However, some states and many employers do require medical assistants engaged in certain tasks, particularly clinical ones such as such as administering injections or vaccines, to be certified for those tasks. The most common certifications available to medical assistant professionals include the CMA (Certified Medical Assistant), the RMA (Registered Medical Assistant), the CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant), the CMAA (Certified Medical Administrative Assistant), the NCMA (National Certified Medical Assistant). and the MAC (Medical Assistant Certification. Less common medical assistant certifications may also be available to medical assistant professionals. The principal national medical assistant certification bodies are listed below, along with a link to their respective online certification lookup tools. Please note that this list may not be comprehensive.
